Laura Kraftowitz

Laura Kraftowitz’s writing appears in The Kenyon Review, Protean, Evergreen Review, and elsewhere. Her community organizing has been profiled by NPR, Salon, Haaretz, The National, and numerous other venues. She is the founding co-director of City of Asylum/Detroit, a nonprofit that provides long-term sanctuary to exiled writers and artists who have been persecuted for their work. A dedicated community organizer, Laura Kraftowitz’s first leadership role was as a coordinator for the International Solidarity Movement, using nonviolent civil disobedience to oppose military occupation in Gaza.
