Cat Washington

In 2021, Catherine Washington realized that she had an eating disorder. She started crocheting in order to trust herself again. Tapestry crochet gave Washington the tools to almost paint with yarn. Through self-portraits, she started to mend her connection to self. Since the fall of 2023, she has been in 15 group shows/exhibitions, received two grants and a scholarship to a weaving workshop, participated in two residencies, taught art to kids, and was featured in a national fiber art magazine. In February 2025, she had a solo show, “Insoluble Fibers,” at Ferris State University Fine Art Gallery that centered her creative recovery.
