Joel Fluent Greene
Joel Fluent Greene is a poet, author, event curator, educator, and Spirit Of Detroit Award recipient. He was host at Detroit’s iconic Café Mahogany poetry nights and has shared the stage with The Roots, Common, The Last Poets, Ledisi, Big Sean, Wyclef Jean, and more. Greene has served as the creative writing instructor at Mariner’s Inn, a shelter and treatment center in Detroit, for six years and has held poetry workshops in over 60 schools in the metro Detroit area. He is a resident artist with Music Hall Center for the Performing Arts and the author of four poetry books. His latest, The Detroit Poems, was released in 2021, with a follow up, revised and edited, Definitive Version, released in 2022.
