Megan Peiser is a mixed enrolled citizen of the Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma. She is a writer and memory-keeper. Peiser pursued the study of literature in college and graduate school because she found that stories are where the histories of marginalized communities live. Stories are where songs are sung, recipes shared, and the truths of women are whispered. In her work, Peiser specializes in uncovering the personal histories of women writers in archives. As a professor of literature, she focuses on how stories shape humanity, and how they come from unexpected places.
