Rita Dickerson

Rita Dickerson is a Detroit-native, multidisciplinary artist and historian who creates works in ceramic, paint, sculpture, video, and printmaking that primarily feature Black heritage and culture. She is a graduate of Detroit Public Schools who has attained two degrees from Wayne State University–one in art education, the other in fine art. Dickerson has exhibited nationally and locally, including at the Detroit Institute of Arts. She has been interviewed nationally about her work on PBS NewsHour and had one of her paintings featured in the New York Times Art Section.
