Miryam G. Johnson
Miryam G. Johnson is a choreographer and educator rooted in Black liberation practices. In her youth, dance was a focal point of her education and shaped her understanding of dance as therapy, particularly in the face of racialized oppression. A dedicated member of Detroit’s dance community since 2015, Johnson’s work pays homage to Detroit for helping her deepen and expand her movement politic. As a choreographer, her works have been commissioned by the Charles H. Wright Museum, Eastern Michigan University, Detroit Dance Collective, the Henry Ford Museum, and the musician, Supercoolwicked.
