Frisly Soberanis
Frisly Soberanis is a new media artist, director, and producer born in Guatemala, now based in Detroit. His practice spans VR, installation, film, and web-based work centering on migration, the tensions and harmonies of multigenerational households, and collective memory. He has received support from Tribeca Film Institute’s New Media Prototype Fund, Culturestrike, and the Open Society Foundation. His new media work has been shown at el Centro de Cultura Digital (CCDMX) in Mexico City, TIFF, Queens Museum, SXSW, Hilversum Museum, and at the Park Avenue Armory. His producing work has premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival, SXSW, and BFI London, with two films on the Criterion Channel.
