Kashira Dowridge

Kashira Dowridge is a self-taught Detroit-based filmmaker and artist. Her practice developed through years of collaborative and commercial work with clients, including Dazed & Confused magazine, Target, and Apple. She later moved into filmmaking, directing music videos for the rapper Common as well as his live performance on the Today Show. In 2023, Dowridge directed a documentary for !K7 Records, featuring celebrated electronic music artist Theo Parrish’s Detroit Forward. Her recent short film “Time Will Tell” (2024) reflects her approach to visual language and sound; Dowridge creates spaces for reflection.
