ON VIEW NOW: ONLINE EXHIBITION FEATURING THE 15TH ARTIST COHORT
Kresge Arts in Detroit Presents:
FLASH YOUR LIGHTS
An online exhibition featuring the 15th artist cohort
Opens April 8, 2024
The Exhibition
Kresge Arts in Detroit is producing our first online exhibition featuring the 15th cohort of Kresge Artist Fellows and Gilda Award recipients.
The theme “Flash Your Lights” is a call for solidarity inspired by 1970s Detroit radio DJ, Electrifying Mojo. Each night, he asked listeners to imagine futures of peace and revolution united by sound, and to collectively “flash their lights” to demonstrate they were listening in solidarity. The fellows and Gilda Award recipients submitted new and re-imagined pieces examining how sound surfaces in their practice.
Meet the Curator
2019 Kresge Artist Fellow Kristen Gallerneaux curated this year’s exhibition and developed the theme. Gallerneaux is an artist, museum curator, and sonic researcher. At The Henry Ford museum in Dearborn, Gallerneaux is the Curator of Communication & Information Technology and the Editor-in-Chief of Digital Curation. Her curatorial work focuses on the intersections of the histories of technology, creativity, and activism.
